Not Your Typical Cup of Coffee

I knew when I titled this post at the beginning of the A to Z Challenge that it wasn't going to be about Europe and that it would be a part of Memories Captured with Alison and Galit.  I figured I would take a really cute Easter picture or one in between that would be a great memory to capture.  What I didn't know was that I should have been taking pictures of the 17 year old family dog instead.

  1995   ~    2012

I apologize for this not being your typical happy memory to exactly swoon over..it's really about sweet and enjoyable memories of an active, vibrant life that I'm glad to say we have had 17 years to celebrate. That's all I have to say about that!

Since this is the last few days of Picnik, I used all the premium effect and font I could!
I would never have done these effects with this picture if it wasn't for this linky so I thank Galit and Alison SO much for this! (this week more than usual!)

Awww I'm sorry! Sam looks a bit like the dog I had growing up. So so sad when you lose a pet.

Thank you Angel. He was ailing for awhile so it was expected but still hard. The kids were so good, writing letters to him and everything - still look for him places.

Thanks MG. The vet told my husband that he lived a great life if he lasted 17 years..we still have the old 16 yr old cat running around like a chicken with his head cut off..

Thanks Alison - I'm glad I had the opportunity to make this picture. Plan to print it up for the kids. Without you and this linky, it would have just been the picture so I thank you this month - more than you know!

I'm so very glad you captured his life. My heart aches for you and for that bright eyed creature your children love so much in the pictures above.

Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get (or when it's gonna end). Looks like you had the best of chocolates out of the box and I'm glad you now have the memories!

Sam looks like an awesome dog. I'm sorry for your loss, but it also looks like you had some great years with him. And you made a beautiful collage in his memory.

Oh no. I used to have a dog when I was a kid and I never knew what "happened" to him in real. I wish my parents could have taken pictures at least, I have cero.

I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet family member. We've rescued/fostered/adopted so many dogs over the years, but there's always that one special heart dog that our life seems to revolve around. That's my husband's dog Jezebelle, and I can totally understand this bond.

Thanks Angela!

CoffeeLovinMom said...

Oh - I'm sorry that happened to you. We comtemplated telling the kids or not and decided they needed closure too. They wrote him letters (their idea) and loved him so hard those last couple days

CoffeeLovinMom said...

Thanks Lisha - I hope Perro lives a long happy life as well!

CoffeeLovinMom said...

Thanks, he was just that!

CoffeeLovinMom said...

Thanks! I think IF (big IF) we ever get another dog, it will be a rescue for sure. Not that that's in the plans right now, I'm sure one or the other will come home with a stray at some point..

Thanks for being there for me when it was going down - your hugs were felt across the interwebs!

I'm so sorry about your sweet pup. They do make our lives whole don't they. Our first pup died at 14 and it's such a hard thing to go through.

Sam was beautiful.
