Say Hello to my Little Friends..

We have a lovely little family that comes to visit our yard each year and this year is no exception...Say Hello to my Little Friends..

I had to share because I can't tell you how much I love that my children are able to get this kind of nature in their own back yard.  This is a small taste of a good 20 minute visit we got the other day and even though I know they saw me snapping pictures and they stopped to look, they went back to eating the lovely acorns that bring them into our yard.

They come by almost every day either in the early afternoon or about sundown and it's kind of a big deal.  As long as the dog is not the first to spot them, we all stop whatever we are doing and watch them from a slightly open door in the basement that gives us the best view.  We whisper to each other so we don't disturb them, kind of reminds me of a hunting show my husband would watch - and freak out when they look at us and then go about their business like we aren't even there.  I hope one day my kids appreciate that not everyone is so lucky to have a deer family visit them...

You want to come camp? We definitely have the room!
What do you get in your own back yard that nobody else does?

so beautiful. I miss life in the country.
All we got is the skunk that dug its way into neighbours compost bin, got stuck....and died. Our yards stunk so bad I had to keep the kids inside for a couple of days until they discovered it.

We live in the city in an apartment so the most wild thing he sees are pigeons on our balcony! How I would love to have deer running around the backyard, especially the babies!

That's really cool! We have a lot of woods in our yard and behind us so we get deer every so often but not regularly. They are so cute!

The river is my backyard so I get alligators from time to time.

We get deer sometimes too and totally love it! We also have a fox that we see in the spring... I keep waiting to see the babies... and the kids think that is SO cool! We also get bats and owls. I want to built houses for them so that they'll actually STAY in our yard... maybe have babies? The kids would lose their minds over that!
Living out in the country definitely has it's perks!

Awesome. We live in S. Florida and we'd never see something like that. How amazing. Jealous.

We live in the far south burbs in a rural community and one of my favorite things about the area is all the wildlife we get to see. Deer, fox, raccoon, and, new this year, something that looks like a badger. (?) We actually have so much wildlife that we had to tear out our deck and replace it with a stone patio because it was a home for too many critters.

We are actually only an empty lot from the main road in town and right next to the fire station so I think they must really love the acorns. That stinks about the skunks - we haven't seen those here thank goodness.

My husband stood inside the basement door with his bow drawn (no arrow) just to see if he could get the shot off.

Yeah no thanks - where do you live?

Pigeons can get pretty wild! I got much more footage this day but I am so shaky I have to splice it up first.

It's nice to get any wildlife like that isn't it? I can't get enough

That's what Mr. Wonderful would've done!

Holy crap! That would be enough to make me get the hell out of there - you must love your home. What do you do? I swear I would move - I can handle spiders and snakes but alligators no way!

We have bats too but I don't know if I would want them to make themselves at home there so I'm not gonna go inviting them. An owl maybe..we had a bird nest go through the whole cycle right on the ledge outside of the gazebo one year - my kids loved it!

You are always welcome to come for coffee!

The badger is what my daughter refers to as the beavcoon, I think he's the one burrowing the ground and ticking my husband off about ruining the grass. I love critters

Love the pictures of the deer in your backyard. We have tree frogs keeping us company on our office window each night, and the raccoons enjoy the apples in our backyard so much, that our garbage bin is safe from prying paws.
